At the very foundation of relief and development, these donations develop entire communities, making life worth living for almost 24 million people worldwide.

1.) Set high goals. Think of an amount that would feel like an accomplishment to you. Remember: if you don’t ask, you don’t get.
2.) List your potential donors. These can include family, friends, neighbours, colleagues. Go through your address book. Include your doctor, car mechanic, relatives, former classmates, your child’s teacher, everybody you do business with, your dry cleaner, everyone you talk to at your office, place of worship, or school. Think about any people who’ve asked you for money for a charity before and put them on the list. Then decide how you will contact each person on your list. Possible options include face-to-face meeting, an email, a fundraising letter or a fundraising party. Contact the ADRA-UK office for advice/resources to use in planning a party or writing a fundraising letter.
3.) Multiply donations by giving additional forms to your family and friends who have already donated. Ask them to talk to people about the event and your participation in it, and help you ask for donations.
