Through five distinct sectors — Food Security, Economic Development, Primary Health, Emergency Management and Education — we give families options for a better way of life.
Learn to read. Write. And life just got easier. That’s what ADRA believes. And to help people achieve these goals, we provide reading programs, teacher training and primary, secondary, and vocational education. We even build schools, dig wells, and buy classroom furniture and supplies. ADRA also works with local partners—only the best—to give excellent instruction. People do well. Their lives change.
ADRA-UK is working in Papua New Guinea to teach 25,600 people to read and write. Most of the participants in this project are women.
ADRA-UK helped in South Sudan to reduce household poverty by increasing the number of girls enrolled and retained in educational institutions. ADRA-UK also provided school uniforms and training for new ‘role model' female teachers, all of which addressed reasons girls did not attend school.
ADRA-UK provided 6,000 women in Nepal with literacy and numeracy skills so that they can now read, write and do basic mathematics. Classes were also given on health issues including maternal and child health, prevention of HIV/AIDS and general hygiene and sanitation.
I would like to make the following donation to ADRA-UK:
